Labyrinth Mountain

Details
Let’s go for a hike to Labyrinth Mountain!
Distance: 5 miles
Elevation Gain: 2,700 ft.
Difficulty: A little hard
If you drive past the crowded trailhead for Lake Valhalla, there is another trail with a second beautiful and mythically themed set of hikes. Unlike its namesake, the path to Labyrinth Mountain proceeds in a straight line uphill to its final destination. While the trail is not very long, it is quite steep and gains around 1,500 ft in the first mile, comparable to the Old Mailbox trail. Fortunately, the difficulty doesn’t last that long and one soon arrives at a more gradual section with incredible views of Minotaur Lake and Theseus Lake. We will first push on to the peak to enjoy the wonderful views before returning to the lakes to cool off and relax. This trail mostly follows a set bootpath but some minor scrambling (easy class 2) may be required at times.
Hiking poles are recommended. Also bring plenty of food and water, and a jacket in case it is windy at the summit. Sunscreen is recommended and expect mosquitos. Bring a swimsuit if you want to jump in.

The road to the trailhead is a little rough, but most vehicles can make it. Riders should give $20 to their drivers for gas. Bring a plastic bag to place your boots in after the hike. A Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required to park at the trailhead.
