A day in the Tatoosh Wilderness!
Weekend workout hike at Tatoosh Lookout, with a 3 hour drive from Seattle. A trip away from the city, and a mix between forested and exposed trail. With decent weather this coming weekend, there should be great views from the lookout. Expected to be around 48-55 °F at the summit and sunny. This hike is similar in terms of distance and elevation gain as Mailbox to give you a rough estimate of what type of conditioning you should be in. To save yourself from the drive in the morning, there are plenty of places to stay within 0.5-1.5 hours from the trailhead.
Gas will come out to about $10 per person for a car of 4. Be sure to pay your drivers asap before or during the trip!

What to bring:
- Required: Appropriate footwear – Mid to High Hiking boots, backpack, sunscreen
- Recommended: Trekking Poles, Sun Hat, Medical Kit, Satellite Device, Map, Emergency Overnight Kit, Electrolyte Tablets, Sun Glasses
- Plenty of water – 8 oz per hour, plan for 8 hours, Recommend Gatorade as well
- Plenty of food and snacks - I generally bring comfort snacks, granola and/or protein bars, as well as trail mix and fruit (one snack for every ~1mi) plus lunch
- Any other 10 Essentials you think are appropriate.
Itinerary:
- 4:45 AM Seattle People - Meet at Green Lake Park & Ride (South Lot) and organize into cars; be sure to ask if you need a ride from Seattle in event chat. If driving from elsewhere, like myself, just meet at the trailhead or discuss meetup location via comments, event chat or DM.
- 5:00 Leave for Trailhead
- 8:00: Arrive at Trailhead
- 8:15-4:00: Hike, Eat Lunch, Enjoy Views, and Return
- 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM Optional Post hike restaurant in Packwood
Closest Gas Stations to Trailhead – Enumclaw (2 hr.), Ashford (1 hr.) and Packwood (35 minutes)
