Come out and hike to Comet Falls and Mildred Point in Rainier National Park!

Distance: 7 miles
Elevation Gain: 2,600 ft.
Difficulty: A little hard

With all the recent rainfall, now is a great time to visit some waterfalls, like Comet Falls in Rainier National Park. The trail is short but steep as it climbs about 1,400 ft up to the gorgeous tiered waterfall After the falls we will continue upward again to visit Upper Comet Falls and further onto Mildred Point. Mildred Point faces directly at the big mountain and has excellent views of Kautz glacier and much more!

Depending on conditions and time, we may choose to do some other short trails or viewpoints in the area before we leave.

We are hoping for good weather, but be ready for winter conditions! Microspikes are required! Don’t forget hiking poles, warm clothing, hats, gloves, etc. It gets dark early, so don’t forget a headlamp, in case we get back late!

The weather this time of year is unpredictable and plans can change suddenly. Recent flooding may make some trails inaccessible. I will have backup hikes ready if we need to change plans. Please keep an eye on the meetup page for any updates, changes, or cancellations.

Riders should give $20 to their drivers for gas. Bring a plastic bag to place your boots in after the hike. This hike is Mount Rainier National Park so you will need a national park pass and pets are not allowed.

Important: You and yourself alone are responsible for your own safety. Please know your abilities before signing up.
