Join me for a weekend workout on Mailbox Peak.

Distance: 5-7 miles
Elevation Gain: 4,000 ft
Difficulty: Hard

Mailbox Peak is a Washington classic. The old trail up mailbox was originally made for fire fighter trainees to develop their physical condition, and since then it has become one of the preferred trails for anyone looking to get in a major workout. It gains 4,000 ft in just 2.5 miles, going straight up the ridge to the peak. Unrelentingly steep, at the top you can visit the iconic mailbox and enjoy views of all the I-90 corridor mountains, the Snoqualmie valley, and on a clear day Mt. Rainier.

Feel free to pack extra weight and make it a conditioning hike!
If conditions are good and we want to go a bit extra, we can traverse from the summit to nearby Dirtybox peak. This adds about a mile to the trip and you might want mountaineering boots and an ice axe just in case.

Bring plenty of food and water, and make sure you have clothes for sunny, windy, rainy, or snowy weather.

We will take the old trail up, but I usually take the new trail on the way down, despite the extra distance.

The trail is easy to follow, but download a map just in case:

Riders will reimburse their drivers $10 for gas. A Discover Pass is required for the trailhead.

Important: I am not a guide and this is not a guided trip. You and yourself alone are responsible for your own safety. Please know your abilities before signing up.
