Hike Mt. Townsend for panoramic views. This challenging trail climbs through forest and alpine meadows to a stunning 360° summit overlooking the Olympics, Cascades, and Puget Sound.

Elevation Gain: ~2,982 ft
Difficulty: Moderate to Hard
Pass Required: Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful

đźš— Schedule & Meeting

  • 7:00 AM – Meet at Green Lake P&R (NE 65th St & I-5, Seattle)
  • 7:05 AM – Depart for Edmonds ferry terminal
  • 7:55 AM – Board Edmonds–Kingston ferry
  • 8:20 AM – Quick rest stop at Safeway (8196 WA-104, Kingston, WA 98346)
  • 09:45 AM – Arrive at Mt. Townsend Upper Trailhead
  • 10:00 AM – Begin hiking
  • 4:00 PM – Return to trailhead
  • 5:30–6:10 PM – Board Kingston–Edmonds ferry (depending on traffic & ferry line)
  • ~7:00 PM – Return to Green Lake P&R

🎒 Gear Notes

  • Hiking poles and microspikes highly recommended
  • Sturdy hiking boots required
  • Standard day hike essentials + extra layers, lunch, and plenty of water
