Let's escape the western Washington rain and head east for a desert hike! We'll explore the Black Canyon Trail in the Wenas Wildlife Area, a beautiful and less-crowded out-and-back trail with great canyon views.

  • Pass Required: No Pass Required! (Wenas Wildlife Area)

🚗 Schedule & Meeting

  • 8:00 AM – Meet at Green Lake P&R (NE 65th St & I-5, Seattle)
  • Carpooling and depart promptly
  • -9:40 AM Quick restroom & coffee stop in Cle Elum (Safeway)
  • 11:00 AM – Arrive at Black Canyon Trailhead
  • 4:00 PM – Return to trailhead
  • 7:00 PM – Back at Green Lake P&R

🎒 Gear Notes

  • Sturdy hiking boots required (trail can be rocky and uneven)
  • Hiking poles recommended
  • Bring plenty of water (at least 2-3 liters)
  • Dress in layers for changing conditions

💰 Cost Sharing

  • $25 per person to cover gas and vehicle wear. Cash or Venmo.
