Come out and snowshoe to Pratt Lake!

Distance: 12 miles
Elevation Gain: 3,100 ft.
Difficulty: Hard

There’s been a lot of fresh snow in the mountains this week, which makes it a perfect time for a nice long snowshoe. Pratt Lake is a beautiful spot tucked just over the ridge above I-90. Starting from the Pratt Lake/Granite Mountain Trailhead, this trail follows a gradual route that’s perfect for walking on snow. Once down in the Pratt basin, there should be open snowy meadows to walk around and enjoy the winter vibes.

Snowshoes required! I recommend microspikes as well. Expect most of the route to be snow covered. Bring plenty of food and water, and bring multiple layers of clothing so that you are ready for cold, wet, windy, or snowy weather. While the trail is gradual, walking in fresh snow can be very tiring! Plan for a moderately long day with around 7-8 hours on the trail.

I will monitor the weather and avalanche risk, and may change the plan on short notice if conditions are not safe.

Riders should give $20 to their drivers for gas. Bring a plastic bag to place your boots in after the hike. Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is needed by drivers. The trailhead is right off the highway, so all cars should be fine.
