## Lower South Fork Skokomish River Hike

Distance: ~9–10 miles round trip (out & back)
Elevation Gain: ~1,000 ft
Pace: Moderate (~2.0–2.5 mph)
Pass Required: Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass
Dogs: On leash

### Overview

Escape the crowds and Cascade smoke. This trail runs through old-growth forest and fern grottos along the South Fork Skokomish River. It starts with a short bluff climb out of the parking lot before leveling into a low-elevation rolling path along the river canyon.
Tucked in the southeastern Olympic foothills, this valley catches marine air from the Hood Canal, making it a great shelter when smoke hits Puget Sound.
