π²Scenic Burke-Gilman & Sammamish River Bike Ride
Details
Join for a relaxed scenic bike ride from Seattle through Magnuson Park, Lake Washington, the Sammamish River Valley, and Marymoor Park.
We'll ride mostly on paved regional trails, take plenty of breaks to enjoy the scenery, and stop for a picnic lunch along the river.
The route connects the Burke-Gilman Trail with the Sammamish River Trail, which runs between Bothell and Marymoor Park. The Sammamish River Trail is paved throughout and offers views of the river valley, Cascade foothills, and, on clear days, Mount Rainier. The Burke-Gilman is also largely a paved off-road trail and connects directly with the Sammamish River Trail near Blyth Park. (King County)

~3:00β5:00 PM β π² Marymoor Park β Sammamish River Trail β Burke-Gilman Trail β Recycled Cycles
Ride the same route back at a steady group pace, keeping stops to a minimum so we have the full two-hour return window.
Optional: If we're comfortably ahead of schedule and everyone still has energy, make a short stop at Magnuson Park on the way back. Otherwise, continue directly to Recycled Cycles.
~5:00 PM β π Return to Recycled Cycles and return rental bikes
Times are approximate and may change depending on the group's pace, trail conditions, crossings, and other trail users. 5:00 PM is the hard return deadline, so any optional stops on the way back will be skipped if needed.
### π΄ Ride Difficulty
Distance: Approximately 30β35 miles round trip
Surface: Mostly paved trails
Pace: Relaxed / social
Difficulty: Moderate mainly because of the distance, not because of steep climbing
This is not a beginner-level short bike ride. You should be comfortable riding for several hours and covering approximately 30+ miles at a leisurely pace.
We'll have several breaks, so there is no need to race through the route.
### πΊοΈ Route
Our main route will use the regional trail network:
Recycled Cycles β Magnuson Park β Log Boom Park β Blyth Park β Sammamish River Trail β Marymoor Park β return via the same trail network
The key connection is at Blyth Park, where the Burke-Gilman Trail meets the Sammamish River Trail. (King County)
There will be road crossings and interactions with other trail users, particularly around Seattle and UW, so everyone should ride cautiously, follow posted signs, yield appropriately, and stay aware of pedestrians and other cyclists.
