About us

Welcome to WaSweets — a Japanese sweets brand rooted in craftsmanship, seasonality, and the beauty of sharing Japanese culture in everyday life.

We create and share traditional Japanese wagashi in ways that bring people together — from seasonal sweets and custom orders to private lessons, catering, workshops, cultural experiences, pop-ups, and collaborations with local businesses and communities.

At the heart of WaSweets is a simple belief: there is beauty in slowing down enough to notice. Through food, craft, and thoughtful experiences, we invite you to pause, connect with the seasons, and experience a little piece of Japan wherever you are.

This community is for anyone who loves Japanese culture, beautifully crafted food, tea, creativity, meaningful gatherings, or simply discovering something new.

Whether you're looking for:
• Seasonal and custom wagashi
• Catering for celebrations and special gatherings
• Private wagashi lessons and intimate experiences
• Japanese cultural workshops and events
• Pop-ups and local collaborations
• Unique ways to bring Japanese culture to your home, business, or community

— you’re welcome here.

You don't need to be Japanese or know anything about wagashi.

Japan at your table. A moment to taste, feel, and remember.

We look forward to sharing the world of WaSweets with you. 🍵

A monthly gathering for wagashi, tea, Japanese culture, creativity, and meaningful connection.

Welcome to WaSweets — a community for anyone who is curious about Japanese culture, loves beautifully crafted food, enjoys tea and hands-on experiences, or simply wants to slow down and try something a little different.
Each month, we gather for an immersive Japanese Wagashi + Tea Experience, inspired by the seasons and traditions of Japan.
Rather than a traditional cooking class, these gatherings are designed to be an experience you can feel, participate in, and share.

    You’ll have the opportunity to:
🌸 Make Japanese wagashi by hand
Learn the techniques behind seasonal Japanese sweets and create your own beautiful pieces to enjoy and take home.
    🍵 Experience freshly whisked matcha
Slow down with a bowl of matcha and discover the simple ritual of preparing and enjoying Japanese tea.
    👐 Practice mindful making
There’s something grounding about working with your hands. Throughout the experience, we’ll weave in gentle moments of grounding, reflection, and presence — without making it feel like a formal wellness class.
    🇯🇵 Discover Japanese seasonal culture
Each gathering is connected to the seasons, traditions, ingredients, aesthetics, or stories that make Japanese culture so beautifully layered.
    Connect with others
Come with a partner, parent, sibling, child, friend — or come by yourself. There’s no particular background or experience required. Just bring your curiosity.

    Who is this community for?
You might feel at home here if you:
    • Love Japanese food, tea, art, or culture
    • Have traveled to Japan or dream of going someday
    • Are curious about wagashi and want to learn how they're made
    • Enjoy matcha and want to experience it beyond the café
    • Love creative, hands-on experiences
    • Appreciate beautiful food and thoughtful details
    • Enjoy discovering unique local experiences
    • Want to meet people who share your interests
    • Are looking for something meaningful to do with someone you love
    • Simply want a little time to slow down and reconnect

You don't need to be Japanese, speak Japanese, know anything about wagashi, or have any previous experience.

This community is for anyone who wants to experience a little piece of Japanese culture through making, tasting, learning, and being present.

    🌿 Come as you are.
Whether you're joining us for a date, a family afternoon, a day with a friend, a creative solo outing, or simply because you love matcha and beautiful sweets — you're welcome here.

We’ll gather monthly in Orange County and explore a different seasonal experience each time.
