What we’re about
We run exciting ceilidhs, featuring some of the country’s top musicians. We bring inclusive, energetic ceilidhs to the London music scene in the beautiful surroundings of St John's Waterloo.
Events are generally monthly, typically on the last Friday of the month. Waterloo Ceilidhs is a new, premier social dance series in a fabulous venue in central London, featuring some of the country's top ceilidh bands. This meetup group is for people who enjoy going along, meeting new friends and having a dance together.
What is a ceilidh?
Pronounced 'kay-lee', it's a lively, fun-filled night of live music and dancing. It's a type of social folk dancing similar to a barn dance or contra. The word comes from the Gaelic word for ‘gathering’ or ‘party’.
No experience necessary - just come and have fun. There is a 'caller' who will explain all the moves, and everyone can take part, young or old, experienced dancers to beginners and even those with two left feet!
Come by yourself or bring friends/partners. A ceilidh is an ideal way to meet new people in a fun, inclusive environment.
