Throughout history, philosophers have recognised animals as deserving of moral consideration — from Pythagoras and Buddha to the modern moral philosopher Peter Singer, known for his theory of speciesism.
We see pigs playing video games, or exhibiting human-like depression, cows mourning their friends, and more. Evidence of animal sentience grows every day - Would you kill a pig after having a conversation with them?
Is it time to expand our moral circle to include non-human animals?

We start the evening with a short talk outlining some of the main areas of interest. Members will then suggest and vote for questions to guide our discussion, then break into small groups for a deeper dive into these topics. Each group will share their insights in a collaborative wrap-up - Come ready for philosophical engagement and inspiring conversation!
