Welcome to Money Matters, a weekly discussion group relating to topics of personal finance and financial education/literacy.
Attendees are encouraged to share their personal experiences related to finances to help others learn and achieve their financial goals.

Now that we have a possible financial/investment plan, we need to know what steps we can take to put that plan into action.
Discussion Prompts / Questions
- Decide on an asset allocation for your financial portfolio. How do you do this?
- Decide on how hands-on or hands-off you wish to be with your portfolio. Do you want to Do-It-Yourself (DIY) or do you want the guidance of a financial advisor? What are the pros and cons of each?
- If you decide to go the DIY route, what are the options for trading platforms to use? What are the options and how do you decide how simple or complex your portfolio will be?
- Are you familiar with the various government-registered accounts available in Canada? How do you prioritize which one(s) to invest into during different periods of your career/life?
- What kind of upkeep activities are involved, particularly when investing in a DIY style?
