Star trails in Cassiobury Park

Details

Have you ever wanted to do Star Trails of the night sky, well, this is your chance. We will be taking shots of the stars in a sequence to make a star trail. Clear skies are needed for this; the event will move to Saturday or Sunday if it's cloudy.

*Date changed to Saturday 9th due to cloud on Friday.*

Equipment
You will need a tripod, a DSLR camera or a mobile phone which can shoot in raw and manual mode.

The cedar tree, sometimes called the Lion King Tree, will be used as the backdrop. To create the spiral as in the above image, you need to take many shots, at least 150 and then use software to combine them together. You can see more about how to do this on my tutorial here - https://blog.andrewlalchan.co.uk/tutorial-star-trails/

CAMERA SETTINGS
To capture the stars, you would need a camera on a tripod. Ideally, the widest angle lens, ISO 800 to 3400 (when dark). Shutter speed of 15 to 20sec and your lens wide open, i.e. f2.8.
Bring a torch, ideally with a red gel on top to protect your eye's night vision. (red quality street wrapper will do)
Bring something to sit on, a mat or fold-down chair, and wrap up warm as it will be cold whilst taking shots.

The Metropolitan underground station is 5 - 10 min away from the park, with Watford Junction 35min on foot.

Cost £17
To save some of the fees that Meetup now charge, you can send direct to sales@chaplinmultimedia.co.uk or ask for bank details.
