Moonlight Paddle on Mountain Island Lake

This is one that may be cancelled due to weather, because one never knows what any given summer afternoon/evening is really going to be like around here. But it's the best time I could find for a moonlight paddle as the moon will be nearly full and up over the horizon by the time we launch our boats. So if the weather cooperates, this should be a lot of fun.

We meet at the launch site, Riverbend Boat Ramp (see map) at 7:00pm. Our paddle will take us down river towards the dam and around a small island, then back to our starting point to take out boats. Since this is a night paddle, you must have some kind of light to mark your boat so it's visible to other boaters. There are power boats on the lake, even at night, and you'll want to make sure they see you well before they get to you. You'll also need an approved flotation device, a whistle, and whatever drinks or snacks you prefer.
