Hike Fall Mountain

The Fall Mountain Trail is located in Morrow Mountain State Park. It's a loop about five miles long and takes hikers on a winding climb up to the summit, where views across the Pee Dee River towards the Uwharrie National Forest are found. We'll meet at the parking lot by the boat launch in the park at 10:00 and take our time as the trail wanders along the river for about a mile before beginning a gentle ascent into the woods.
As the summit nears, the trail winds back and forth and grows steeper, becoming somewhat strenuous for about a mile. The summit is strewn with large boulders that are useful for resting and picnicking. The walk back down is through gently rolling old forest and leads us right back to the parking lot where we began.
