URBAN WALK: Al Olaya (5-11 km)

For our seventh Urban Walk, we will return to walk along one of Riyadh's most iconic streets: Al Olaya.

Meeting Point:
We’ll meet at one of the sunken lawns outside the STC Metro Station. I’ll be there from 7:50 PM to greet you. For those I haven’t met yet, I’m short and blonde.

Route Highlights:

• Enjoy views of the iconic Kingdom and Faisaliah Towers.
• Pass by Abaya and the luxurious Centria Malls.
• Soak in Olaya’s vibrant café culture.
• See the King Fahad Library, where we’ll have the chance to step inside and view the library’s rare documents collection.

The route covers approximately 5.5 km in one direction and 11 km as a round trip.

Schedule:

• 7:50 PM: Gather at the meeting point.
• 8:00 PM: Brief introductions and an overview of the route.
• 8:05 PM: Begin walking south on Olaya Street toward Kingdom Tower.
• 9:15 PM: Expected arrival at King Fahad Library.
• 10:30 PM: Expected return to STC Metro Station.

Important notes:

• For those parking near STC Metro Station, buses and the Blue Line Metro are available to take you back to the starting point for just 4 SAR.
• Walk departs promptly at 8:05pm. We will not wait for latecomers.
• I will lead this walk at a brisk pace. However, individuals are welcome to set their own pace, and you will be able to join a WhatsApp group at the starting point to help you track the route and reconnect if needed.
• This is a free, informal activity. Unlike our Saturday hikes, you can leave the walk whenever it suits you - there’s no check-out.
• I will not be able to respond to texts and messages before or during the walk.

It’s a great opportunity to get some exercise, meet new people, and enjoy Riyadh’s urban landscape.
