What we’re about

Hi Folks

We, the players and organizers who had been playing as Wayne Ukes at the Wayne Senior Center every Thursday, are in the process of deciding on the name for our new uke group in Wayne.

We now play together every Thursday evening (except major holidays) as a new, independent uke group, at the Wayne Presbyterian Church. See our current events are at (LUC) Linda's Ukulele Club Meetup page.

WHO: all skill levels
Strum and Sing the world's great songs with cheerful, friendly, supportive & encouraging ukulele players. Skill levels from beginner on up. You will have more fun if you know a handful of basic ukulele chords. This is a good start: C C7 A A7 F G G7 (some of which use only one string and one finger.) There is a wealth of uke tutorials on YouTube, easily found with an internet/Google search. Cynthia Lin's beginner tutorials are often recommended in uke circles.

MUSIC
Songs from all genres and time periods.

SONGBOOKS
- "The Daily Ukulele; 365 Songs for Better Living" aka "the yellow book"
- "The Daily Ukulele: Leap Year Edition" aka the "blue book"
both are compiled by Liz & Jim Beloff
- We also will use auxiliary songbooks, some we've compiled and some found online.

INSTRUMENTS
All sizes and types of ukuleles welcome, from sopranino to travel ukes to baritones.

SINGERS
Anyone who loves to sing (even if you think you can't!) is welcome!

MUSIC STAND
A heavy-duty music stand is recommended. The Daily Uke books are hefty and your typical music stand will tip over often... or cease to be able to hold the books upright.
