Details
Our speaker will be
Martha Roiter - Teacher, Nationally ranked Tennis Player and Coach. Winner of National mother-daughter tennis championship and N/E. Tennis Family of the year.
Martha will talk about her tennis career and also about good and not so good experiences coaching and playing. I am sure that most of us either as parents, coaches or kids have experienced good and bad times in whatever sport we tried including tennis, youth soccer, etc. etc. She will talk about the value of these experiences and will encourage the audience to participate with their own stories - and I am sure we have all have had some.
One of the highlights of Martha's tennis career was winning a national championship mother daughter tournament. She was ranked nationally at # 5 and played at Forest Hills and other venues in the US and Mexico.
On the Coaching and parenting side Martha will relate experiences about coaching and parents not only in tennis but also other sports such as youth soccer.
She will discuss for example:
Did your coach have your best interests at heart or was he or she trying to win at any cost? Did your parents push you too hard? Were you helped or hindered by parents, coaches and other kids? Did your experiences help your character and values?
Audience participation will be highly encouraged. You can compare stories!
