Return to Skye 2027
Details
THIS EVENT IS FULL - WAIT LISTING ONLY
Our fifth trip to the amazing Island of Skye probably the best walking destination in the UK.
Arrival at our accommodation is from anytime after 5pm on the Thursday but we aim to meet just across the Skye bridge at Broadford for 9:30am for those wanting to walk Thursday.
On previous trips those not staying on for extra nights have driven up the day before (Wednesday) and overnighted at Fort William Backpacker (60mins), SYHA Ratagan (40mins) or similar.
Friday some can walk locally in the Glenbrittle area whilst others tackle the famed Inaccessible Pinnacle sitting atop the Sgurr Dearg munro with the help of a professional guide whose costs will need to be shared out (circa £80pp but a bargain compared to doing it privately).
Saturday we head over to the Trotternish Ridge (one of the most stunning walks in the UK) or maybe just the up and down of the Old Man of Storr followed by the delights of a Portree tea shop or a swim in the bay close to the hostel.
If not staying on for extra days Sunday we pack up and head for home but not without pausing at the renowned Sligachan Arms to tackle the amazing peaks nearby or easier routes.
We shall be rustling up a delicious hot meals from Thursday with vegetarian option so no need to eat on the way and although we'll serve up about 8pm, there'll be plenty kept for those arriving a little later. If you require a bevy or three don't forget to bring this with you as it may be a long way to the offy!
Help yourself breakfasts and lunch packups are provided Friday Saturday and Sunday as is hot food Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but feel free to bring desserts, cakes and other goodies to share as well as your own drinks. Tea and coffee will be provided.
Routes and options will be discussed with everyone on arrival to ensure we are meeting overall expectations but there is loads to choose from.
