New Years Eve Camping at Joshua Tree! ($30)

Details

Ditch the fancy clothes this year and ring in 2018 staring up at the stars, roasting marshmallows, and drinking champagne.

We're looking to spend this New Year's eve with like minded people- the kind of people who are instantly excited by the idea of camping (even if it will be chilly AF).

Note: This event is cross posted on multiple pages so we'll be keeping the actual number of RSVPS updated with +1s. Make sure to RSVP and send payment before spots fill up!

THE CAMPSITE
*Our tent-only site can hold 30 people and 8 cars (so carpooling will be necessary)
*There are restrooms, picnic tables, a grill, and a fire pit.
*We have the site until the 2nd, in case anyone wants to sleep the party off and take it real easy on the 1st.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

*Firewood

*Champagne

*Gatorade (for the recovery)

*S'mores making paraphernalia (marshmallows, grahams, and chocolate)

*Depending on how many people RSVP, we may also be able to contribute some oatmeal and breakfast bars. And since Tania can't pass up an opportunity to bake, there's a chance some home made brownies or cookies will be passed around too!

*We'll also provide access to a few camping stoves and fuel for your cooking needs. A kettle will also be available for boiling water for anyone who wants to make coffee or tea.

*TO RESERVE A SPOT

*Venmo Tania (@Tania-Andrade-1) $30. If your name on Venmo is different than your name on Meet Up, please include your name as it appears on Meet Up with your Venmo payment. If you do not have Venmo, send Tania a PM for info on how to pay via PayPal or Chase QuickPay. Note: A reservation will get you the campsite information, but please don't post it anywhere.

In early December we'll send out a survey to help facilitate carpool and food sharing preferences. You can also let us know if you don't have a tent and we'll help match you up with someone who has either a spare tent or some extra space in theirs.

A week before the trip, we'll send out a "welcome pack" with info regarding carpools and tent shares, as well as directions, weather forecast, and a basic packing list.

As always, no camping experience is necessary. It will, however, be cold out there so you'll need a cold-rated sleeping bag (which can be purchased at Big 5, Walmart, or on Amazon easily) and some good thermal wear (which can often be found at Costco).

Warm sweaters, scarves, and hats are also a must, and we highly recommend a warm blanket as well for sitting by the fire at night, and some hand-warmers to stave off the chill for when you're not fireside.

If you've never camped in Joshua Tree, its a beautiful place, you're in for a treat. A great place for rock climbers, hikers, photographers, and campers to lose themselves in. We'll put together some info on our experiences there and we can explore the park together or in small groups.
