ABOUT YOUR HOUSE DJ: DJ Mystical Michael has been a DJ for over thirty years. He inspires creative, meditative, and joyful movement with a genre-bending mix of rhythmic and spacious music from around the globe. Michael was co-facilitator of NYC's freestyle dance The Barefoot Boogie, and DJs at Dance Friday Boston and Dance New England's annual summer camp. RI Contact Improv presents:A Blindfold Jam w/ Rebecca Foster & DJ Mystical Michael

To build this unique container with care, Rebecca will orient all dancers to the basic intentions & agreements of blindfold jams (using Moti Zemelman's guidelines) and offer an opening group warm-up. During the jam we will always have at least 2 people without blindfolds to maintain safety in the space. Note: There will be blindfolds available but please bring your own if you have one.
Why Blindfolded?By removing our dominant sense door (and requiring us to move slowly for the sake of safety), blindfold jams turn a light onto all of the internal sensory & navigation processes that take us from one moment to the next. When and how do we choose to move (or not), respond (or not), allow (or not) in service of safe, satisfying & connected dances?
