Los Penasquitos Canyon Waterfall Hike (Beginner)

Forget fall — October is locals' summer, and SD is never too chilly for a dip in a waterfall (or at least enjoying the view)!

We'll be taking this laid-back hike through Los Penasquitos Canyon to one of San Diego's most beloved waterfalls. Come touch grass with us!

About The Hike
This is a 6.8 mile loop that’s mostly flat with a mix of shady trees and sun. As of this posting, the waterfall is still gently flowing. This hike is rated Easy on AllTrails; view the route here.

Where We'll Meet
We'll meet in the parking lot of Los Penasquitos Canyon Park.

What You'll Need

1. Always bring water, even if you don't think you need it.
2. Wear comfortable hiking or running shoes for dirt and gravel paths.
3. Use sunscreen and/or UV layers.
4. Friendly dogs are welcome!
5. Wear swim-friendly clothes if you want to get in the water.
