Arrietty is a charming animated film from Studio Ghibli, directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi. Based on Mary Norton's novel The Borrowers, it follows the story of Arrietty, a tiny girl who lives under the floorboards of a house with her family, "borrowing" everyday items from the human world to survive. Arrietty's peaceful existence is disrupted when a young boy named Shawn discovers her, leading to an unlikely friendship that challenges the boundaries of her hidden world.

The film explores themes of courage, freedom, and the fragility of life from the perspective of the miniature Borrowers, whose lives are constantly at risk of being discovered by the larger human world. With beautiful animation and a quiet, reflective tone, Arrietty captures the wonder and vulnerability of its characters as they navigate their tiny, yet significant, lives in a world much bigger than themselves.
