This panel is an opportunity to hear from thought leaders across a variety of industries and functions within their respective organizations. Who are these phenomenal panelists you might ask? Read their bios below to learn more.

Aliya Ramji
Aliya is the Senior Director, Corporate Affairs and Legal at Figure 1. Figure 1 is a case sharing platform for health care professionals and was one of Canada's 11 tech companies to watch in 2016. Aliya is an international lawyer who acted as legal counsel and global business unit advisor at CSA Group prior to joining Figure 1 in Oct. 2014. In 2016, Aliya was named one of the top 10 thirty-somethings by the Association of Corporate Counsel and was awarded the Young Alumni of Influence by the UofT. She served as a lobbyist in the US Senate and Canadian government, making submissions on international free trade agreements. Aliya teaches the Legal Aspects of International Business at Ryerson University. She attended the NYU School of Law and earned her Masters in Law in International Legal Studies, and is licensed to practice in Ontario and in NY. Aliya has worked and studied abroad in the UK, Asia and in North America. In her spare time, Aliya is the Vice-chair for diversity for the American Bar Association’s corporate counsel section, the member for mentorship on the Aga Khan Education Board for Ontario, and is the columnist for the ACCdocket’s Ask Aliya.

Shiera Aryev
Shiera is the Director of Design at Universe, lead UX educator at Brainstation, and co-organizer of Hexagon UX Toronto’s chapter. She’s had over 8 years of experience building mobile and web software products for diverse brands such as Universe, Bell, Toronto Star, MaRS, Telus, Corus Entertainment, Opencare, and Unhaggle to name a few. She’s passionate about driving positive social change, crafting digital products, using a human-centred approach and helping businesses create value & disruption in their respective fields. She’s also excited about advising startups on design thinking, empowering others to reach their goals, mentoring people in their design careers, building design practices, maximizing efficiency with process and building amazing workplace cultures. Prior to entering tech, she received a degree in Animation (B.A.A.) from Sheridan College.

Jona Georgiou
Jona is a self-directed professional with over 13 years of progressive risk, payments, and operations experience within loyalty and fintech space. She has a genuine knack for identifying patterns and anomalies in complex data. With a passion for new payment technologies and innovation, she continues to focus on building out payments and operational capabilities along with providing infrastructure, strategy, and governance. More importantly, she is a serious Monopoly and Carcosonne player.

Danilo Cabello
Danilo is a computer engineer with over 17 years of experience. He has worked with multiple languages and multiple platforms across a number of geographies. He is passionate about product and their clients. He was one of the first members of the engineering team at Wealthsimple and joined over 2 years ago. He's led various teams within the company and has helped it grow from a handful of engineers to over 60 people.
