  • 5:45 pm: Networking & Pizza

The Talk
The Core Web Vitals - Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint, and Cumulative Layout Shift - were chosen because they are a close proxy for how good or bad a user experience is, however there are nuances to be aware of when measuring and acting on them.

In this talk we'll understand what the Core Web Vitals are, learn how to measure them in the browser, and analyze them for insights. We'll also look at some Core Web Vitals data collected by our RUM tool - mPulse.

Speaker
Philip Tellis works at Akamai as a RUM distiller. He wrote the opensource boomerang JavaScript library to collect web performance RUM data, and now spends his time analyzing this data. Philip is also on the W3C's Web Performance Working Group working to build standards and specifications to help improve web performance.
