THIS WEEK:

I'm particularly excited about this week: come learn to Build Desktop Apps using the web technologies you know (HTML, CSS, JS) using Electron!! (electron.atom.io (http://electron.atom.io/))

For those of you who do not know, Electron is a framework that allows you to build Desktop Apps as easily as your WebApps and Mobile Apps. In fact, it already powers some of the apps you are familiar with: Slack's desktop app, Google Play Music Desktop app, and the Atom Editor many of us use every day are build with Electron.

This week: Brett has been gracious enough to offer to live code, as we use Electron to build our own browser. Should be a cool experiment to build the browser collaboratively with the designers of our group.

This Wednesday is our joined Viewport Meetup ( http://Meetup.com/Viewport ) with our WebApp-Builders Meetup ( http://Meetup.com/WebApp-Builders ) so we thought it would be a good week to to focus on the one screen we (as web developers) rarely have access to: the desktop. Now, given technologies like Electron are coming around, should make it much easier to control our entire user's experience, with Web, Mobile and now Desktop.See you this Wednesday!
