#156 - Local-first, the future of web apps
Details
Imagine if most web apps you use were as fast as your phone's notes app and as real-time as a multiplayer game, all while functioning offline. There would be no loading spinners when you open a new page or click a button; UI interactions would be instant. You wouldn't need to refresh to check for updates; new data would arrive automatically in real-time. You also wouldn't have to pause your work due to a dropped or spotty internet connection.
Local-first is an architecture that enables developers to build web apps with these capabilities. It already powers web apps such as Figma, Superhuman, and Linear, and it is rapidly growing in popularity.
This talk will explore local-first architecture, its benefits, and the various available solutions that support its adoption.
