(As organizer) ATX Hack for Change is Austin’s response to the National Day of Civic Hacking, a White House initiative started in 2013 to inspire citizens to come together and improve their communities. Since 2013, ATX Hack For Change has brought people together to tackle the unique issues facing our weird city, as Austin’s culture thrives on being cutting edge, and Austin itself is viewed nationally as a city of vast untapped potential. ATX Hack for Change is hosted each year by St. Edward's University in partnership with Open Austin, the City of Austin and Google Fiber. Our one-of-a-kind civic hackathon aims to provide the community with resourceful projects that will have a lasting, positive impact. We welcome attendees from every corner of Austin: any industry, any sector, every neighborhood, all experience levels. This event is for anyone and everyone who cares about sharing their skills with Austin and their community. (Though we do require hackers be 16+.)

What we're about

We are your trustworthy guide and authority to the pros and cons of programming languages!

And when you join this meetup you will get:

• Invites to our weekly and monthly events to get help deciding whether a certain programming language is something you want to continue a education or career in

• Monthly hackathon opportunities (team competitions of developers and programmers)

• All events are sponsored & supported by volunteers and are free to our members to attend

• Meet senior level programmers and developers to get input and hands on advice from!

This is a meetup group for:

• Helping anyone at any level, looking to begin or expand a career, skillset, project, or hobby as a developer, designer, and and/or programmer, as well as find Jedi masters to mentor with around town.

• Team up on just about any PHP, HTML, CSS, MySQL, or various random code language!

• Finding prospective job opportunities and job fairs, as well as learning l!

• And provide resources, continued education, co-working spaces, and programs that you otherwise would not have known about are available here in Austin, Tx for people of all ages, backgrounds, and income!

I believe no one should be left behind to themselves, feeling like they have to do it and learn it all on their own, because that just sucks!

I know, because I was once a mutant introvert programmer left to fend for myself. :-/

I thus took over and grew this Meetup from the ground up, because of my passion for helping people and helping everyday people like you not get left behind in this industry simply because you did not know the right people to make things happen for you and teach you.

So join this Meetup today and become a member of a community of hundreds of developers, designers, and programmers just like you, of various levels of experience, and help each other break the barriers of communication, network, and come together to make impact full results & code happen!

I easily look forwards to learning more about you and from you soon! :-) Shane
