WebRTC Update 2017 - a full day of realtime communications!

Details

Welcome to the WebRTC Forum Stockholm!

We have put together a full day of tutorials and talks about WebRTC - the new HTML5 standard for making the web come alive with realtime video and audio between web browsers. By giving the browser access to the camera and the microphone on mobile phones and computers, a whole new breed of applications can be created.

The detailed agenda is still being worked on but here's some of the goodies:

9.00-9.30 Hello and welcome with tea and coffee

9.30-10.30 WebRTC Tutorial

A brief introduction to WebRTC standards - protocols, API's and the relationship to the voice over IP world, like the SIP protocol.

Olle E. Johansson, Edvina with the assistance of other speakers

10.45-11.30 Introduction to Janus, a WebRTC server platform

Janus is an Open Source platform for providing video conferences, SIP gateway services and much more.

Lorenzo Miniero, lead developer, Janus

11.30-13.00 Lunch on the town (Lunch is not provided)

13.00-13.45 What's happening out there? Show me the numbers!

Callstats.io gathers statistics from WebRTC sessions. This shows the success rate with peer2peer sessions, the usage of media relays, quality of the sessions and much more.

Varun Singh, Callstats.io

13.45-14.30 How to manage remote participation in a worldwide conference

Lorenzo Miniero from Meetecho has for many years been part of the team that provide remote participation to the IETF meetings using the Janus WebRTC gateway. In this talk, he shares his experience from running a service for a very picky crowd of engineers.

14.30 Coffee-break

15.00 WebRTC for a Web-centric Service Architecture

The ReTHINK project is designing and prototyping a Web-centric (non telecom centric) P2P Service Architecture supporting use-cases beyond commoditized telephony, such as contextual and social communications, M2M/IoT and content oriented services. Participants include Quobis, Portugal Telecom, Orange, Deutsche Telekom and Fraunhofer Fokus.
WebRTC is a key technology in the project, this talk will explain how it's used to enable dynamic trusted relationships among distributed applications and multimedia sessions.

Anton Roman Portables, Quobis

15.45 - 16.30 WebRTC Update

An update of the Google WebRTC libraries - what is the status and what's coming in the next few releases?

Niklas Blum, Google

16.30 End of session
