Mt.Yoshino,the traditional famous place for huge amount of cherry blossoms

Go hiking for enjoying the flowers and delicious specialties!

We would like to go hiking to Mt.Yoshino in southern Nara prefecture.This mountain features huge amount of cherry blossoms and the popularity has been continued for about 1000 years.

There are moderate slopes in the roads or trails we go.We can find several stores along the roads.We drop in at some souvenior stores and we would like to buy kakinoha sushi and Japanese traditional sweets.Kakinoha sushi is a mackerel sushi wrapped by persimmnon leaves and sometimes salmon and snapper are used instead of mackerel to have more variety.
We walk as viewing cherry blossoms and visit some facilities such as shrines,finally we approach to Okusenbon.

Mt.Yoshino was once important place in Japanse history in around 1350 and it may be interesting in looking up the history in advance.

After enjoying the scenery and the sites of the history we go back to the starting point,Yoshino station.

奈良県南部にある吉野山にハイキングに行きたいと思います。この山は非常に多くの桜が特徴でその人気は約１０００年続いています。
私たちはやや緩やかな坂道を進みます。道沿いには様々なお店があります。幾つかのお土産屋に立ち寄り柿の葉寿司や伝統的な和菓子を買いたいと思います。柿の葉寿司は鯖を柿の葉で包んだ押し寿司で、種類を増やすために鮭や鯛が鯖の代わりに使われることもあります。私たちは桜を眺めながら歩き神社などの施設を訪ねたりしながら奥千本に向かいます。
吉野山は１３５０年頃に日本の歴史上重要な場所になったことがあり、あらかじめそういう歴史を調べておいたら興味深いかもしれません。
景色や史跡などを楽しんだ後、出発点の吉野駅に戻ります。
