Join us for a weekend camping and kayaking adventure to Squaw Lake on the Colorado River just north of the Imperial Dam. We will be camping at T.K. Jones Campground at Squaw Lake. This area is one of the most interesting places I have kayaked and consists of multiple lakes/bays and narrow channels alongside the Colorado River. It's a super fun area to explore in a kayak.
SIGN-UP PROCEDURE:
Please read ALL of the information here and at the linked page (above) carefully before signing up. Everyone is placed on the waiting list initially and confirmed on the trip in the order of payment and based on the answers to the 4 questions below. I will update the complete attendee list at the link above as the event is cross-posted. Unless you have your own kayak/SUP attendance will be limited to available rentals and up to max 30 people total.
When you RSVP you MUST provide answers to the following questions:
- What is your phone number? I need this for organizing purposes and to keep track of people at the event.
- Do you have your own kayak/SUP or do you prefer a single, double kayak, or paddleboard (SUP) if renting? See availability at the link above.
- Do you plan to rent kayak/SUP both Saturday and Sunday?
- What is your experience level with kayaking/SUP? First timer, have tried it a couple of times before, or quite experienced etc.
KAYAKS/SUPS:
310 Kayak and Paddleboard Rentals (https://www.310kpr.com) will provide the rental kayaks for those who need to rent. They also have a few Stand Up Paddleboards as well if any of you prefer those. I have never tried paddleboards but they seem more difficult to control so if you are new to them you may be confined to just Squaw Lake as the currents in the channels may be too difficult to handle. They also have a couple of double kayaks although I recommend going with single kayaks as tandems are more difficult to paddle.
Everyone MUST also sign their liability waver.
PAYMENT:
You are not confirmed on the trip until I receive your payment of $50 if renting a kayak. $40 will go towards Saturday's Kayak/SUP rental (discounted). $10 will go towards organizer's efforts, and to help with general Meetup expenses; which have added up. If you are bringing your own kayak or SUP and don't need to rent the cost is just $10. The sign-up payment does not cover any other expenses including 2nd day paddling, or camping costs etc. Please go to the link at the top of the page for payment procedure.
CARPOOLING:
Use comments below to arrange carpooling. Please stick to helpful and relevant comments only.
