Join us as we hike to the summit of Valencia Peak, one of the highest trails in Montana de Oro State Park. Optionally, join us for lunch in Los Osos after the hike.

This challenging out-and-back route climbs about 1300’ in only two miles, covering rugged terrain with sometimes treacherous weather. There’s no shade, and you can expect some wind.

Essentials

  • Terrain: Rocky, exposed to the elements
  • Duration: 2–3 hours
  • Distance: About 4.3 miles, elevation gain about 1300’
  • Map: GaiaGPS
  • Only service dogs are allowed on park trails

Bring

  • Sturdy shoes
  • Sun protection
  • Jacket
  • More water than you think you need
  • Trekking poles (optional but helpful)
  • Snack for the summit
  • Sense of camaraderie and fun

⚠️ Boots on the trail at 9am sharp. Plan ahead for parking.
⚠️ Heavy rain cancels this hike. Chance of drizzle does not. I'll post updates here.
