About us

It’s 1am, and you’re still going down some weird history rabbit hole. Sound familiar?

Ancient sites, forgotten civilizations, unexplained artifacts, bizarre historical events, lost cities, strange maps, weird coincidences, overlooked stories, local legends… all the stuff that makes history feel alive and mysterious without diving into conspiracy territory.

Some examples:

🤔 Victorian-era French elites were eating looted ancient Egyptian mummies for the ‘health’ benefits? Yup.

🤔 In 1582, Europe realized their calendar was drifting off from the actual solar year by about 10 days). So when the new Gregorian calendar was introduced, they literally just skipped days. In places like Italy and Spain, October 4, 1582 was followed by October 15, 1582. That happened.

🤔 Was the Mali Empire’s Atlantic voyage in the 1300s successful and they made it to the new world or did the ships sink? Will we ever find evidence either way to determine what happened?

🤔How cool is the Lycurgus Cup, right?

🤔Sacsayhuaman, Ollantaytambo, Tiwanaku, The Osirion at Abydos, Newgrange, Nan Madol, Easter Island, Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, Kailasa Temple, Derinkuyu, Nazca Lines, Ñaupa Iglesia… all those amazing feats of construction. Let’s talk about it.

I’m starting a casual meetup for people who enjoy curious conversations, swapping interesting stories, and exploring the gray areas of history where there are still unanswered questions. Cool local NC history is also welcome!

This is NOT:
❌ “the earth is flat” energy
❌ aliens built it
❌ nonsense conspiracy theories

This IS:
✅ open-minded, evidence based conversation
✅ thoughtful skepticism
✅ interesting people sharing interesting things
✅ good vibes, humor, and curiosity

Think of it like a book club, except nobody had homework.

Just bring:
a weird historical fact
a mystery
an obscure story
a cool, grounded theory
or just curiosity

Will determine the meet up spot & first event date/time after some sign ups, but likely a low-key local coffee shop or brewery.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, reach out.
