The Cinema Society: Films for Thinking, Feeling People to Discuss via Zoom

Details

How to participate:

1. Register with a quarterly or annual membership. Only registered members will be admitted to the Zoom discussion. Click here to register
2. View the film once (or more) before the meeting date, perhaps jotting a few notes of what made an impression after viewing. A complimentary watch party will be available for group viewing on the first Tuesday of the month to allow some time for post-viewing contemplation. (If you don’t mind plot spoilers you may sit in on a session even if you haven’t viewed the film but want to absorb the discussion. This may be helpful when a film’s subject matter doesn’t suit you, but you still want the bliss of mingling with your Society.)

3. Attend Society meetings the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 7:00-8:30 (EST/EDT).

4. Share your thoughts in the guided discussion. Love it or hate it? You’re welcome to express it as the group digs into plot, story arc, character development, motifs, and themes. The subtext of this Society is building our social and emotional well-being through what we consider and how we interact, visit being101.com for more information on Well-Being practices and emotional literacy.

5. The third movie of each quarter will be selected through a majority vote of registered Society members from movies suggested by current Society members. Movies rated G, PG, PG-13, and R will be considered for these discussions.
