See all- Hiking with friends - Cattle Ridge Track to Ōrongorongo TrackCatchpool Valley Carpark, Lower Hutt
Hey folks!
We are going to explore the Remutaka Forest Park in this hike, which encompasses much of the Remutaka Range. Easily accessible from Wellington, the area is popular with trampers and hunters.
We will meet 10am in Catchpool Valley Carpark. The route will be 10mins in Ōrongorongo Track, up to top via Butcher Track (A stiff climb follows Butcher Stream to around 400 metres and magnificent views of Wellington harbour). From the top of the Butcher Track, Cattle Ridge Track heads north to join the Ōrongorongo Track near Turere Stream. Finally, we will hike back to car park via rongorongo Track. Combined with these tracks, it's a 4 hr (12 km) round trip.
After the hiking, we probably will go to Wainu or Petone to have refreshment.
This trip will only go ahead in nice weather and if there hasn't been too much rain in the days beforehand.
If you are unwell, please stay home and get better!!!!
