Erewhon by Samuel Butler

Details
Erewhon: or, Over the Range is an 1872 novel by Samuel Butler depicting a utopian civilisation in the mountains, Erewhon (an anagram for 'nowhere'). Inspired by Butler's time in New Zealand (he farmed on a high country station in Canterbury), the novel satirises Victorian society.
Compared on its release to Gulliver's Travels (and later praised by George Orwell), Erewhon was an influential novel, and one of the first to explore ideas of artificial intelligence.
