At FabCon Europe 2025, Microsoft unveiled a set of features and enhancements designed to accelerate the journey toward data-unified, secure, and mission-critical AI. In this session, we’ll walk through the major announcements that are reshaping the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem and explore what they mean for your organisation.
Key topics include:

Enhancements to OneLake to simplify data access and governance: mirroring of external sources (Oracle, Google BigQuery), new shortcut sources (Blob, etc.), transforming JSON/Parquet into Delta tables for immediate analytics, and improved security & catalog controls.

New capabilities for Graph and Maps in Fabric: enabling richer relationship modeling, geospatial analysis, and visualisation to power smarter AI agents.

Developer experience improvements: preview of the Fabric Extensibility Toolkit, the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for code generation and automating authoring via tools like VS Code/GitHub, plus general availability for CI/CD pipelines and enhanced workspace tools.

Upgraded security, governance, and performance features: private link support, outbound access protection, workspace-IP filtering, surge protection for capacities and workspaces, customer-managed keys, plus migration tools from Synapse Analytics.
