FRENZ PRESENTS: Te Whanganui A Tara’s finest funk forces live at San Fran on the 24th of April. Prepare for a night of Funk, Jazz, Afrobeat, Soul, and Rock from three of the city’s most entertaining bands.
- Star Time’s contagious on-stage energy and personality quirks tend to leave audience members stunned and begging for more, not to mention the urge to dance at their shows is stronger than life itself. Rhythms hit like fireworks, locking hips and feet into motion whether you planned to move or not. Star Time doesn’t just play a show – they unleash a euphoric, full-body experience that lingers long after the final note.
- OdESSA is a funk/soul/rock band based in Wellington. They were first active between the years 2002 to 2009 and were regarded as one of the country’s most outstanding live acts, with singer Matthew Pender named by the music press as “one of the greatest frontmen NZ has ever produced.” In late 2020, OdESSA reformed with Pender back on vocals and bassist Paul Mouncey from the original lineup, plus a rotation of some of Wellington’s finest musicians.
- Funk The Band is a Wellington-based group whose performance is guaranteed to entertain. They’re a fantastic force that blends a sweet mixture of classic soul, funk, and new-age jazz fusion. After their debut show in late 2025, they have been honing their craft and getting ready to burn down the house.
