Santoft Sizzler
Details
This one is a bit different. I am planning to head up to the Santoft Forest (20km from Bulls) to take part in their annual 5 hour lap "race" event. Full details here: https://mmbc.co.nz/santoftsizzler/
The basic premise is that there is a short (20 minutes) non technical track loop in the forest (part of https://www.trailforks.com/trails/scotts-ferry-loop/) and teams and individuals "compete" on the number of laps they can do in 5 hours. I am not at all worried about the competitive aspect of it. It is usually a very fun event. There are spot prices, music and general party atmosphere in the event village. Some people even dress up.
Doing it as an individual is strenuous but possible. Doing it in teams can be downright leisurely depending on team numbers (e.g. in a team of 3 each team member will likely only ride once per hour for a total of only 5 laps)
If you think that this sounds like your kind of fun on a bike then sign up and we can organise transport and teams etc. It is a 2 hour drive so we would likely start fairly early to get there in time but should be back homer by dinner time.
In terms of gear obviously bring your bike and all the usual paraphernalia - but also camping chairs, gazebos, pick-nicks, flags, air horns...
