AI in Aotearoa: from adoption to accountable governance

Caio "TK" Tkalec is an AI Solution Architect based in Wellington, leading enterprise AI architecture, governance and adoption on Microsoft Azure within a public sector organisation. In his career he has spent more than a decade at Microsoft across NZ, Australia and Brazil, delivering $75M+ in business impact and leading AI adoption programmes for ASB, Singtel and Honda Japan. He is completing a Master of Information Governance at the University of Auckland, is a Member of the Institute of Directors (MInstD) and a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, and recently presented on operationalising AI governance at ISACA Wellington.

Most NZ organisations now have AI pilots and a set of AI principles. Far fewer have AI that people actually use, with governance that holds up once it's in production. In this session TK shares what works in practice: how to take AI from use case to adopted, production solution, and how to operationalise Responsible AI with ISO/IEC 42001 and the NIST AI RMF without slowing delivery.
