Privacy for non-specialists – myth-busting session!

Details

We’re all interested in our own privacy online, but we aren’t all lawyers.

As part of Privacy Week 2024, Katrine Evans, Government Chief Privacy Officer, will take a look at common myths around privacy. She’ll share approaches that you can use to improve privacy awareness in your mahi and workplace.

Some myths Katrine will cover:

  • Privacy’s the job of our privacy team, not my job.
  • Privacy stops me from getting my work done.
  • Privacy’s all about risks. What about innovation?
  • The Privacy Act stops me from talking to people.

Katrine Evans is the Government Chief Privacy Officer. She’s been playing in the privacy space for more than 30 years – first as an academic at law school, then as the Privacy Commissioner’s legal counsel.
