Hey mates - A platform that hosts fun in-person social events.

Not like the ones that you’ve been in past; we really focus on delivering a great experience and creating a safe space where you can truly connect with others and have fun.

Don't take our word for it - feedback.heymates.com/wall

Our socials are PAID for a reason. We are offering value for people who are looking for:

  • Great in-person experience.
  • Inclusive and culturally open community.
  • A space where you can truly connect with others, share stories and have fun - EVERY SINGLE TIME!

We exist for individuals who HAVEN'T had good experiences or found an inclusive space.

Some of the symptoms you might have experienced at other events:

  1. felt like an outsider - breaking into an existing group
  2. felt ignored and was just left to you to figure it out.
  3. people had specific views and beliefs (weren't open to other cultures or views)
  4. Host were too focused on actual activity vs making sure everyone was socially connected.
  5. the group was so big that you felt lost
  6. the overall experience was average or less than ideal.

Our key differentiator is EXPERIENCE and INCLUSION of cultures + Diversity:

  • Events run by kind and trusted hosts
  • Facilitated and co-ordinated events
  • High confidence, 98% attendee show-up rate.
  • Over 30% of users attend more than twice.
  • Small groups, better outcomes. (max. 15 attendees per event)
  • See Familiar faces and reconnect over repeat activities - build trust and long-term friendships.

If you're not finding an opportunity or an event/activity you love, host one and open yourself to meeting new people!

Hosting is Free with us - no need to pay $100+ to meetup subscriptions.

    FAQs:

📌 Q: I'm bad at or don't like board games?
A: When I say board games, I don't mean Dungeons and Dragons (no shade!). We will be playing stuff like Codenames, Herd Mentality and other EASY to-pick-up games. And if you don't want to play, that's fine too, just come hang out :)

    📌 Q: Can I come alone?
A: Absolutely! In fact, most people actually come by themselves. The whole point is to meet new people and everyone is in the same boat so it's a very warm and welcoming environment.

The Escarpment Track is a spectacular walk along the Kāpiti Coast with beautiful views of the ocean and Kāpiti Island. The track includes two swing bridges, sections of native forest, and quite a few stairs!

The track is quite exposed and some of the track is along a narrow ridgeline. The track begins near the Pukerua Bay station and ends near the Paekākāriki station.

    Meeting point:

    • We will meet at the Pukerua Bay train station at 10am.
    • The start of the track is a 5min walk from here.

    Getting there:

    • You can catch the train from Wellington station to Pukerua Bay station.

If you are driving and would be willing to take others, please comment below.

    What to bring:

    • Water, snacks, and lunch.
    • Rain jacket and warm clothes.
    • Hiking boots or shoes.
    • Sunhat and sunblock.

We’ll just be walking in one direction. It’s about a 10min train trip back to the starting point.

Both the start and endpoint of the track are very close to a train station, so it’s straightforward getting back.
