Baring Head, first lit in June 1935, is owned and operated by Maritime New Zealand and offers one of the most striking coastal landscapes in the Wellington region.

This 8km (approx.) round trip will take us along the beach before we climb up to the lighthouse, where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping, magical views across the coastline and out to the South Island on a clear day.

This is a moderate-level walk with some uphill sections, so a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Along the way, we’ll take breaks to enjoy the scenery, snap photos, and connect with fellow walkers.

Walk duration: ~3 hours (including breaks)

• Sun hat, sunscreen, and warm layer/rain jacket (weather can be unpredictable).
