Easy Waikuku Lodge Haurangi Forest Park Two nights two days. Harder option too

Details

Waikuku Lodge is a comfortable converted farmhouse at the northern end of the Aorangi Forest Park that sleeps 24 people.
Cost is $50 per person which includes two nights accom plus a Sat night communal evening meal with cask wine, beer and juices. Those that want upmarket drinks feel free to bring your own. Also anyone with guitars etc, do bring them as it is drive to the door. It will be a fun social weekend. RSVP then text me on 022-404-7100. I will then text you back my account no. I have already paid for the accom in full so there are no refunds but you are welcome to find your own replacements if you have to pull out. I need at least 15 paid up people to make this venture financially viable so have made it open to other walking groups. Your slot is only guaranteed on payment.

## About this accommodation

The power at the lodge is supplied by a stand alone, solar panel system. Use power wisely. A back up generator will come on automatically if supply is low.
Clean and tidy the lodge before your departure.

Arrive Fri night after work or meander through the day exploring the Wairarapa. Have your tea prior to arriving. Sat and Sun explore the area. Split into small groups. Climb Mt Ross, tramp into Sutherland hut, explore parts of Haurangi Park. Do your own research, you are responsible for your own safety.
Non trampers and children are welcome. They can hang around the lodge in great comfort. This trip is still on in bad weather. Bring some board games and socialise inside if you choose not to explore.

For those wanting a more serious tramp: Only if the weather is good, early Sun morning I plan to bush bash up a ridge to Te Maunga 979m then down to Tauanui hut for the night. Hunters frequent this area and there should be well used routes, still expect the unexpected. Mon morning out to Pirinoa where a car will be left for us. Good navigational skills and an overnight pack are required for this part. Also take Monday off work. This will be for experienced fit trampers only. Please express your interest in this part via the comments section.
