Kapakapanui day walk

Details

What are We Going to Do:
A day walk of the Kapakapanui loop track, which is just outside of Waikanae. We'll do the loop counterclockwise, going up the steeper ridge, to the peak, and then back via Kapakapanui Hut.

There are several crossings of a stream at the start and end of the loop, so be prepared to get your boots wet, or bring a pair of crocs/jandals for the start if you prefer to keep them dry.

Difficulty:
It's not a huge loop, but it involves climbing 1000m to the 1100m peak. Since we're doing this as a day walk, you will need a good level of fitness for this walk and some tramping experience. We'll be aiming for good steady pace.

What to bring:
Wind and waterproof outer, warm clothing - layers, snacks, water, sturdy shoes, first aid kit, PLB, etc

How to get there:
From Waikanae, follow Reikorangi Road and turn into Ngatiawa Road. We'll meet at the Ngatiawa Road end carpark.
Post in the event comments to organise carpooling; whether you'd like a lift of can offer a ride.
I'll be driving and can take up to 4 passengers.

Time:
Around 3-6 hours, depending on the speed of the group.

Please ask questions if you are not sure about anything.
