This July the team at Storypark will host us at their offices for a chance to learn more about their company and how they use Rails.

Storypark is a platform for early childhood teachers to document the learning journeys of the children they teach. It also helps parents and whānau engage with their children's learning.

Talks

  • "An Opinionated Look at Type Checking in Ruby" by Dan Simmonds, a Principal Engineer at Storypark, on the pros and cons of type checking, particularly in the ruby language, where it's at right now and if we should care
  • "Over-complicating Photos", Jordan Crawford, Developer at Hatch Invest. Jordan walks us through his intentions and implementation of a personal project to display family photos with a very specific set of goals.

Q&A
During the meetup there'll be a Q&A for Storypark. This is your chance to ask anything you'd like to know. Are you curious about their tech stack, development culture, infrastructure?

You'll be prompted to ask a question during RSVP but you can also add your questions to this form.

About Wellrailed
Wellrailed is a Wellington based Rails meetup which has been part of the Rails community for over 10 years! Wellington is home to many companies who use Ruby on Rails so we're doing bi-monthly meetups hosted by a different company.

This is your chance to learn some stuff, network with your peers and learn more about how various local companies use Rails!

If you're interested in doing a talk or hosting an event, please get in touch with co-organisers Jordan Crawford or AJ Esler via Meetup.com or via the RubyNZ Slack.

Code of Conduct
At Wellrailed events we expect attendees to follow the Ruby NZ code of conduct - see ruby.nz/code-of-conduct
