What helps us keep going when life becomes difficult, uncertain, or painful?

Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning is one of the best-known books on this question. Drawing on his experience as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps, Frankl explores suffering, freedom, responsibility, love, and the search for meaning. The second part of the book develops these ideas into his approach known as logotherapy.

This is not a lecture or a self-help workshop. For this reading group, we will read the book slowly over six gatherings, giving each part enough time for thoughtful discussion.
We simply come together to read carefully, share what we notice, and explore the questions the book raises for us.

This group may suit you if you enjoy thoughtful books, open and deep conversation, and ideas that stay with you beyond the meeting.

It would be very helpful if you could read the section before the gathering. But if you don’t have time, that’s absolutely fine too.

Session 2: Read the middle third of part I. From p28 to p58 (page numbers may vary depending on the edition.) ending with: “....when I planned to meet him tonight in Teheran,' said Death.”
