WHAT TO BRING

Panola Mountain State Park, you want to pack lightโ€”but smart. That park has exposed granite areas, wooded trails, and heat/humidity, so hydration and sun protection matter more than people expect.
Hereโ€™s a practical, no-overpacking checklist:
BRING WATER! Pls...

# ๐ŸŽ’ Essentials (Donโ€™t skip these)

  • Water (at least 2โ€“3 liters)

๐Ÿ‘‰ Georgia heat + granite reflection = youโ€™ll sweat more than you think

  • Electrolytes (Liquid IV, Gatorade, etc.)
  • Snacks (high energy)
  • Trail mix
  • Protein bars
  • Fruit (banana or apple)
  • Comfortable hiking shoes (good grip for rock surfaces)
  • Small backpack (daypack)

***

# โ˜€๏ธ Sun & Weather Protection

  • Hat or cap
  • Sunscreen (SPF 30+)
  • Sunglasses
  • Lightweight moisture-wicking shirt
  • Optional: Cooling towel (clutch in Georgia heat)

***

# ๐Ÿงญ Navigation & Safety

  • Fully charged phone
  • Portable charger (power bank)
  • Trail map or park map screenshot
  • Whistle or small emergency alarm
  • Basic first aid kit (band-aids, wipes, blister pads)

***

# ๐ŸฆŸ Bug & Nature Protection

  • Bug spray (ticks & mosquitoes are real out there)
  • Long socks or light pants (optional but helpful for ticks)

***

# ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Optional (But Smart)

  • Light lunch (sandwich or wrap)
  • Reusable trash bag (leave no trace)
  • Sit pad or small towel (for breaks on rock surfaces)

***

# ๐Ÿ‘• What to Wear

  • Breathable athletic clothes
  • Avoid cotton (it traps sweat)
  • Layers if itโ€™s a cooler morning

***

# โš ๏ธ Panola-Specific Tips

  • Some areas (like the mountain itself) require a guided hike reservation
  • Trails can be rocky and exposed, so:
  • Start early (you are ๐Ÿ‘)
  • Take breaks in shaded areas
  • Watch for slick rock if it rained recently

***

# ๐Ÿ’ก Simple Rule

If you remember nothing else:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Water + electrolytes + good shoes = 80% of your success
