About us

🌌 Afrofuturism Book Club:

Curious about Afrofuturism?
This book club is for you. ✨

We’re a low-pressure, discussion-based virtual book club exploring Afrofuturism through stories that imagine Black futures, survival, care, and possibility.

Our first read is The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin—a powerful, mind-bending story that gives us plenty to talk about (and question 👀).

No lectures. No homework energy. Just curiosity, conversation, and community.

🔮 What we’ll get into

🌍 A world where the Earth seems to have personal beef

🧊 Superpowers you’re not allowed to show off

🏠 Communities with… interesting rules

🧠 Plot twists, feelings, and “wait—WHAT?” moments

✨ What the future might look like if we imagine it differently

You don’t need to understand everything to belong here.

📖 Reading expectations (very chill)
